Versions and diffs

Save named versions of a book, compare two versions word by word, restore chosen scenes, and what a version contains.

A version freezes the book at one moment: the tree, every scene's text and the revision of each cast profile.

Save#

Save a version with a name and a note, for example "before the rewrite of act two". You can have many.

Compare#

Compare two versions, or a version with now, scene by scene and word by word. Runs are marked as unchanged, added or removed. Paragraphs are matched first and changed paragraphs are compared by words, so a one-word change reads as one word. For very long scenes with a huge number of edits the diff falls back to "all out, all in", which is coarse but correct.

Restore#

Bring a version's text back, all scenes or chosen ones. A scene deleted since is made again. The current book is saved first, so a restore is never destructive.

Pinned profiles#

A version records which revision of each profile it used, and tells you which profiles changed since.

Delete#

You can delete a version you no longer need.
