About

Built for long stories.

Author is made by AVS Media in Nijmegen, the Netherlands, as one of the apps of Geenius OS.

A short story fits in your head. A novel does not. Somewhere around chapter nine you stop being sure who knows what, where a character was on the night of the storm, and whether the letter was opened before or after the ferry. You re-read to find out, and the re-reading is where the book slows down.

We built Author to be the memory of a long story. You write scenes in plain Markdown and you mark what happens in them as events: a journey, an injury, a secret learned. From those, Author works out where every character is and what they know at any moment, shows the shape of the book as strands on a timeline, and checks the seams with eleven rules that name what broke and where.

What it is, and what it is not#

Author is a writing room: a manuscript, a cast, strands and events, a timeline, checks, versions, beta-reader links, maps and exports. It is deterministic. The same story gives the same answers, and no model runs inside it.

It is not an AI that writes. Author has no built-in AI. On the Premium and Max plans you can connect your own AI, Claude, ChatGPT or Grok, through Geenius OS: it can read the outline and a character's state before it drafts a scene, write into your manuscript with a revision so it cannot overwrite a newer edit of yours, and run the checks afterwards. What goes in the book stays your decision.

Part of Geenius OS#

Author is one of the external apps of Geenius OS, the workspace where your AI works inside your apps through one connection. It works on its own, with its own account and plans, and a Geenius OS plan includes it. Geenius OS profiles are an option for your cast, not a requirement.

Who makes it#

AVS Media, a small company in Nijmegen, the Netherlands. The imprint has the details. We are early, and we say so on every page where it matters: what is live, what needs a plan, what is planned and what is not offered is labelled, and the examples on this site use a fictional novel and sample numbers.
